The Boğaziçi tragedy: The 'my state' against science!
For example:
The land of a country can be occupied.
But the Spirit of the Nation, the National Identity cannot be destroyed!
Art and literature institutions can be occupied, artists and writers can be imprisoned.
But art and literature cannot be destroyed!
Schools, universities, laboratories, research institutions can be occupied, scientists can be imprisoned.
But science cannot be destroyed!
Civil and military bureaucracies, organizations, institutions, associations can be occupied, people can be imprisoned or even killed.
But the accumulation and evolution of humanity cannot be destroyed!
Parties, media, government, civil and military bureaucracies, the legislature, the judiciary, and even the state can be occupied, people can be eliminated.
But freedom, equality, and justice cannot be destroyed!
The Constitutional Court (AYM) annulled the Presidential Decrees (KHK) issued by the President on matters that should be regulated by law.
Among the annulled decrees were appointments of university rectors and the Central Bank Governor.
In response, the Presidential Communication Center issued a summary statement:
“The claims in some media outlets that the Constitutional Court (AYM) annulled President Erdoğan's authority to appoint the Central Bank Governor and rectors are not true.”
The decree in question regulated 2375 provisions.
In its decision, the Constitutional Court annulled only some of these provisions.
The annulment decisions regarding the appointments of rectors and the Central Bank Governor, which resonated in public, were based on the reason that these should be regulated by law, not by decree.
Therefore, there is no annulment in essence. (Note, this is not valid, because the annulment is valid regardless of the reason.)
The court decided that the decisions would take effect 12 months from today.
Therefore, there is no change in current practices. (Note, this is also not valid, because these practices need to be corrected within 12 months.)
In reality, the second interpretation mentioned in the Communication Presidency's statement pertains to the 12-month period given by the Constitutional Court to prevent potential chaos due to the annulment of practices made within the state's functioning, even if by force.
The first interpretation, however, has no logical or legal meaning.
The main issue here, reflected in the public with the example of Boğaziçi University but observed in all universities, is the presence of anti-science, anti-autonomy, political, and ideological practices and pressures.
The scandal of CHP deputies being prevented from entering Boğaziçi University by the rector's order, although later resolved, is an unacceptable disgrace.
In summary, a President who, despite being constitutionally prohibited from serving a third term, is governing the country, especially universities and the Central Bank, with Presidential Decrees (KHKs) without authority, through an election whose justice and transparency are questionable.
As a result, with decisions contrary to science, inflation has skyrocketed to super levels; the poor and fixed-income earners have been condemned to starvation.
With decisions contrary to justice, people are imprisoned.
A political murder reaching up to the government was committed in the heart of Ankara.
But I still believe in the Republic, Atatürk, Democracy, Secularism, the Social State, the Rule of Law, Justice, Equality, and Freedom.
AND HISTORY SHOWS THAT IN THE END, I WILL WIN, WITHOUT A DOUBT!
