Methods of imperialism
Imperialism takes over countries using six methods.
The first method is through free-market economy and privatization. Imperialism collapses the public economy with this method and transfers the economy from the hands of the people to local and foreign capital centers in the private sector. In most countries of the world, this is the most common method applied by imperialism.
The second method is the collapse of the education system and keeping the population uneducated. On one hand, making quality education costly, deteriorating the quality of education in public institutions, depriving broad masses of quality education, and on the other hand, promoting the religious orientation of public education and striking a blow to the scientific-secular education system, are implemented as methods.
The third method is harsher. Imperialism uses this method mostly for countries it wants to eliminate and destroy. This method involves dividing and fragmenting countries based on religion, sect, and ethnic identity, and dragging them into civil war. This is what happened in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya.
The fourth method is to execute military coups in other countries that will act in its interest. The coups in Latin American countries after World War II are examples of this. The March 12, 1971, and September 12, 1980 coups in Turkey, as well as the July 15, 2016, coup attempt, are among these.
The fifth method is the direct military occupation of countries. This method was applied during and after World War I and II, in Vietnam, and most recently in Iraq. This method has fallen out of favor due to its very high cost.
The sixth method is to turn countries into colonies and directly govern them. This method was applied on all continents by countries like Britain, France, and Spain until the 20th century. Due to both resistance from their own populations and uprisings in the colonized countries, this method has largely been abandoned.

In the first half of the 20th century, countries like Britain, France, Germany, and Japan were leading imperialist countries. After World War II, this role was taken over by the United States. Britain, France, Germany, and Israel became complementary elements of this order led by the US.
Today, the country with the most military bases outside its own territory by far is the USA, not Russia or China.
Today, countries that established the greatest dominance in the global economic order are the USA, Britain, France, Germany, and China.
Turkey has never been a colony to this day; it has not been occupied; however, it has been subjected to all other imperialist practices.

Today in Turkey, the total vote of parties that predominantly engage in politics based on religion, sect, and ethnic identity is approximately 60%. AKP, YRP, SP, DEVA, GP, HÜDA PAR engage in politics based on religion and sect; MHP and HDP/DEM engage in politics based on ethnic identity.
This is an extremely dangerous situation for Turkey and is a national security issue.
Within center-left parties like CHP and center-right parties like İYİ Parti, conceding to politics based on religion, sect, and ethnic identity is a separate issue in itself.
For the leader of CHP, Turkey's founding party, Özgür Özel, to say that the issue of Sheikh Said being a traitorous separatist and religious extremist is a matter for historians, not politicians, is nothing but irresponsibility, especially when the reality of imperialism is clear!
