Republican People's Party: A Call for Revolution

06 Kasım 2023 Pazartesi

Why the consistent focus on the Republican People's Party?

Because it was born by the very architects of our Republic.

It is, at its core, Atatürk's party.

But is it still Atatürk's party today? The signs are far from promising.

Today's iteration of the CHP no longer mirrors Atatürk's vision.

Atatürk's original party stood for audacious transformations.

Under Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership, it's reduced to a mere "speech opposition," caught in a cycle of rhetoric, tables, and chairs, endlessly shadowing the government's moves.

An opposition that invokes law as though justice were assured, seeks sanctuary in group gatherings as if democracy were thriving, and turns to the right in the presence of a lawless government that recognizes no bounds.

The Rise of Bureaucratic Opposition

"Bureaucratic opposition" denotes a formalistic resistance led by individuals rooted in bureaucracy, accustomed to giving and receiving orders, and hesitant towards real action.

That reflects Mr. Kemal's modus operandi. Add secret negotiations and closed-door agreements to the mix, and the picture becomes clearer.

He refrains from taking responsibility, preferring to shift blame rather than confront mistakes — the classic tactics of political maneuvering, often associated with Eastern politics.

He rarely acknowledged, let alone criticized, the parliamentary seats he offered to gain support for his candidacy.

"Bureaucratic opposition" thrives in the shadows, where decisions are made away from public scrutiny.

Should Mr. Kemal secure re-election at this congress, it signals a continued path of disappointment for the public.

A Glimpse of Democratic Opposition

Özgür Özel's words hold promise for a more democratic opposition.

Opening doors, owning up to errors, and making democratic critiques can pave the way for a fresh societal approach.

The resurgence of "laicism" as a fundamental aspect of the Republic is anticipated.

Efforts to religiousize education, a hallmark of the "political Islamist government," may hopefully face a halt.

Stand against press freedom suppression could become a collective cause.

However, whether the congress will greenlight Özgür Özel remains uncertain.

And even if he succeeds, will Özgür Özel champion these causes?

We look to the Republican People's Party to shed its present "bureaucratic inertia."

What's truly needed is a "revolutionary opposition."

A Revolutionary Call to Arms

That is the opposition worthy of Atatürk's party.

The revolutionary opposition boldly embraces its revolutionary heritage.

Not one of Atatürk's revolutions will be compromised.

Laicism will stand as the cornerstone in education, law, and social life.

Sovereignty will unequivocally belong to the people.

One-man rule will find no foothold.

The GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY will cease being a mere echo chamber and reclaim its true purpose.

Economic transformation will shift from a system favouring cronies to one upholding the rights of labourers and workers, putting capital in its rightful place.

Foreign policy will return to the ideals of total independence, implementing the principles of "Misakı Milli" with peace at its core.

The "revolutionary opposition" won't march with hidden alliances but with a courageous identity that leads society toward truth and facts.

Deciphering October 29, 2023

This year's Republic Day celebrations held a profound significance.

The fervour, the rush to Atatürk, it was a rebellion in itself.

The throngs flooding the fields, flags in hand, were a protest against the government.

Yet, this fervent movement was also an escalating reaction against the opposition.

Primarily, it was aimed at the Republican People's Party.

The current leadership, embodied by Kemal Bey and its headquarters, might choose to overlook this truth.

But the truth will persist, irrespective of those who turn away from it.

We await eagerly to see how this formidable energy will shape the days ahead.
