The plane landed at Stansted Airport following a dramatic confrontation with US President Donald Trump at the White House, witnessed by the global media last night, Sky News reported.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Zelenskyy will be meeting in Downing Street this afternoon, Sky News cited a spokesperson as saying.

Starmer will host a meeting of European leaders at Downing Street on Sunday to discuss strategies for overseeing a potential Ukraine peace agreement, according to the news agency.

The prime minister believes that any such agreement will need to include the US.

However, the hopes for a united stance between European nations and the US on Ukraine's future have been undermined by the fallout between Trump and Zelenskyy.

The visit came after a heated exchange between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US Vice President JD Vance.

The highly undiplomatic war of words lasted roughly 10 minutes as Zelenskyy sought to defend his handling of the more than three-year conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy departed the White House following the public spat. A planned signing ceremony for a deal on critical minerals and news conference were canceled.

Starmer also said in a statement on Saturday that he is convening a high-level leaders summit in London on Sunday and that he was "looking forward to Türkiye’s Foreign Minister (Hakan Fidan) participating in these talks."

Fidan is expected to exchange views on key aspects of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, including the latest negotiation-focused initiative proposed by Trump.

He will also outline Türkiye’s potential contributions to the process and reaffirm its commitment to a just and lasting peace, as well as support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.

Fidan is further anticipated to highlight Ankara’s readiness to continue its mediating role, as seen in the direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in March 2022.
