WHO declared an emergency... The latest on 'Monkeypox'
Turkiye's Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu met with representatives of media organizations in Ankara. Addressing concerns about the monkeypox virus and Covid-19, Minister Memişoğlu stated, "We are closely monitoring developments related to monkeypox and Covid. However, there is currently no reason for alarm."
During the meeting, which he described as an introductory session, Memişoğlu provided information on ongoing and planned projects, as well as the ministry's roadmap.
Minister Memişoğlu shared details about his education and professional background with the attendees, emphasizing that Turkiye has a healthcare system that serves as a global example, both in terms of manpower and infrastructure, as demonstrated during the Covid-19 pandemic and the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
Monkeypox and Covid-19 Outbreaks
When asked about the monkeypox virus and Covid-19, Memişoğlu reiterated, "We are keeping a close watch on developments related to monkeypox and Covid, but there is currently no reason to sound the alarm."
Drug Supply Issues
Minister Memişoğlu also addressed questions regarding the availability of medications in pharmacies. He clarified that there is no shortage of medications, noting that the issue should be assessed based on the active ingredients rather than specific brand names. He assured that there are no problems concerning the supply of drugs.
