Former President Trump, in his Republican nomination acceptance speech, declared that countries detaining U.S. hostages would "pay a very big price" if they did not release them.

Trump asserted that the events of October 7 would not have occurred during his tenure and reiterated his claim that the 2020 election was stolen, insisting that Biden inherited a "peaceful world": "I am telling the whole world: We want our hostages back, and they should be returned before I take office, or you will pay a very big price."

Trump did not specify which hostages he was referring to.

Globally, more than 60 Americans are wrongly detained or held hostage, including eight held by Hamas in Gaza.

Longest Convention Speech in Modern History

On Thursday, Trump delivered his first speech since an attempt on his life at a rally in Pennsylvania. This speech, which lasted approximately 93 minutes, became one of the longest convention speeches in modern history.

Trump repeated several of his false claims, asserting that the 2020 election was stolen, that his opponent inherited a "peaceful world" from him, and that crime rates have risen.

Reiterates Promise to End Wars

Trump reiterated that the October 7 Hamas attack would not have happened during his administration and promised to end all international crises created by the current administration. He mentioned being on the verge of negotiating a new agreement to control Iran's nuclear program, which he claimed was missed after he lost the 2020 election.

Trump also recounted surviving an assassination attempt, stating he was alive "only by the grace of God." He paid tribute to firefighter Corey Comperatore, who died during the assassination attempt.
