Top private jet travelers of 2023 revealed
A flight tracker has unveiled its rankings of celebrities and wealthy businessmen who took private jet flights during 2023, surprising social media users.
With an increasing focus on climate change, people are becoming more aware of the environmental impact of air travel.
While the average person is evaluating their environmental footprint, celebrities and the ultra-wealthy may not be as conscientious. The Myclimate Carbon Tracker recently released data ranking celebrities who have flown the most via private jets.
The environmentally-conscious Swiss company explained on their website how they determine an individual's private jet travel.
"The Myclimate Carbon Tracker utilizes public domain flight trackers and social media posts from influencers and celebrities to compile flight information, gather emissions data, and directly query individuals on social media. The results are presented in a comprehensive carbon ranking. When someone is tagged in a picture enjoying champagne in Las Vegas one day and then posts from Lloret de Mar the next, the Myclimate Carbon Tracker springs into action," they mentioned.
They further explained that their "service" entails an "automated post on the individual's Twitter or Instagram profile" to "highlight the account’s CO₂ emissions and provide a link to our emissions calculator."
"Here, they can assess their travel habits critically and are encouraged to contribute to climate protection projects."
However, due to their use of public data for ethical reasons, the list serves more as a "rough ranking" aimed at "raising awareness about excessive travel behaviors and the environmental challenges they pose."
The list of top private jet travelers includes:
1. Travis Scott
