The Palestinian Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) issued a new statement. The Federation once again called for the implementation of boycotts and strikes to stop Israel and called for simultaneous actions all over the world on 29 November.

"An immediate ceasefire must be declared to stop the killing of civilians and humanitarian aid must be delivered safely to the region," the statement said, adding that among those killed in the Israeli attacks were Palestinian laborers working in Israel.

"Several of them lost their lives at the hands of settlers while commuting to or from their jobs. Attacks on farmers picking olives continue. Many workers were deported after their work permits were canceled. Some have not been able to return home. 5,800 workers are staying in union buildings. 4,000 workers are in detention. We estimate that these workers are being held to be used in hostage swaps. There is evidence that detained workers are being tortured."

Recalling the Federation's submission to the General Assembly of the Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) held in Tunis on 10-12 November 2023, the statement reads as follows:

  • We reaffirm our commitment to international labor solidarity, the right of people to self-determination, and the fundamental principles of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
  • We reiterate our demands for an end to the attacks and massacres against the people of Gaza, an immediate ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region, and the implementation of the 4th Geneva Convention (1949) on the protection of civilians in times of war.
  • We call on the United Nations agencies to implement international resolutions. We remind you that settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal and we call on everyone to boycott them to stop investments in them.

The statement also said, "The bombardment and siege against hospitals must stop. Humanitarian and medical aid must be provided for the Gaza Strip. The repression and detention of workers in Israel and the West Bank must end. The immediate release of all detained workers in Gaza and the West Bank is essential, and their safe return to their homes must be guaranteed."
