Man dies after bringing loaded gun into MRI room
A man died after bringing a loaded gun into a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) room.

Leandro Mathias de Novaes, a 40-year-old lawyer, was carrying a concealed weapon while accompanying his mother to an appointment at Laboratorio Cura in Brazil. Allegedly, the gun was concealed under his waistband.
Reports indicate that the magnetic forces from the MRI machine pulled the man's weapon out of his waistband, causing it to discharge into his stomach.
Following the tragic incident, Laboratorio Cura issued a statement. “Both the patient and companion were properly instructed regarding the procedures for accessing the examination room and warned about the removal of any and all metallic objects,” according to the Miami Herald.
“The firearm was not mentioned by the companion, who entered the examination room with the object by his decision,” the statement concluded.
De Novaes had a license to carry the weapon, but it is unclear why he chose to bring it despite several warnings beforehand.
Accordin to the New York Post, before his death on February 6, he regularly posted TikTok videos featuring pro-gun content.
