The decision to strike was made due to the inability to reach an agreement on wages for ground services employees, starting at 04:00 today and lasting for 27 hours.

The company stated that, due to the strike, only 10-20% of scheduled flights could be operated at Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Duesseldorf, Cologne, and Stuttgart airports, affecting over 100,000 passengers.

Lufthansa warned that the ground services workers' strike could continue until 07:10 tomorrow.

Demands of Ground Services Workers

The United Services Union (Verdi) called for a strike after negotiations with Lufthansa over "improving wages" for ground services employees failed.

Verdi is demanding a 12.5% wage increase for ground services personnel, with a minimum of 500 euros. Additionally, they are requesting a one-time bonus of 3,000 euros to compensate for high inflation.

Previously, ground services personnel at Lufthansa went on a warning strike on February 7, affecting approximately 100,000 passengers with around 900 out of 1,000 flights canceled.
