In the photo, soldiers of the Golani Brigade of the Israeli army were seen posing with Israeli flags in the parliament hall.
The last general election in Palestine was held in 2006 and Hamas emerged victorious. Mahmoud Abbas won the presidential elections held in 2005, in which Hamas did not participate.
In the 2006 elections, Hamas won 76 seats in the 132-seat Palestinian parliament.
Latest situation in the Israeli attacks on Gaza
On the morning of 7 October, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a comprehensive attack on the Gaza Strip on the grounds of "responding to Israel's continuous violations against the Palestinians and their holy sites, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque", while the Israeli army launched intensive aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
Israel announced that since 7 October, more than 1200 Israelis, including 365 soldiers, have been killed and 5,132 wounded, 46 of them in clashes inside the Gaza Strip and 6 of them on the Lebanese border in the north.
According to Israel, the Kassam Brigades are holding 239 Israeli prisoners.
According to the government in Gaza, the death toll exceeded 11,240, including at least 4,630 children and 3,130 women.
In the West Bank and Jerusalem, Israeli forces and Jewish settlers killed 193 Palestinians.
In Gaza, the Israeli army hit dozens of hospitals in Gaza where tens of thousands of wounded and civilians were sheltering, forcing them to evacuate their settlements or main buildings. Hundreds of people were killed and injured in the attacks.
Since 8 October, 74 Hezbollah members have been killed in clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah.
