Israeli airstrike kills at least 7 in Gaza refugee camp
An Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in central Gaza Strip killed at least seven civilians, predominantly children and women, overnight, according to Palestine's official media reports on Thursday.
The Israeli shelling of a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp also injured several others, Wafa news agency reported, citing local sources. Additional casualties occurred during an Israeli bombardment of another residence in the Al-Zuwaida area of central Gaza.
Wafa also noted that Israeli airstrikes targeted the city center of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Last week, the Israeli army directed Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp and nearby areas to immediately evacuate their homes and move towards Rafah, a city in southern Gaza.
Israel has intensified its military operations in the Gaza Strip, a besieged Palestinian enclave, following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7. Local health authorities report that these operations have resulted in at least 21,110 Palestinian casualties, with 55,243 others injured, primarily women and children.
The Hamas attack is believed to have killed around 1,200 Israelis.
