According to the Iranian newspaper "Etimad," many people in the Rudsar County of Gilan province have sought medical attention since June 28, complaining of symptoms such as nausea, headaches, and heart palpitations.
Local sources suggest that the poisoning cases may have been caused by sewage water mixing with drinking water.
"Could Be Due to Water Contamination"
Muhammed Taki Ashubi, the rector of Gilan University of Medical Sciences, stated that the poisoning might be due to water contamination, but investigations are ongoing.
A source, who wished to remain anonymous, told the newspaper that since the first day of the poisoning incidents, 400 people have been admitted to hospitals with suspected poisoning. During this period, drinking water has been tested, but the results have not yet been disclosed.
