Georgia on Ukraine: War could end next year
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed expectations that the ongoing war in Ukraine might conclude next year.
In an interview with Georgia's "Imedi" television channel, Prime Minister Kobakhidze discussed his country's domestic and foreign policies as well as regional and global developments.
Addressing the issues in U.S.-Georgia relations stemming from the "Transparency of Foreign Influence" law, Kobakhidze highlighted the need to resolve these challenges.
Kobakhidze emphasized that the United States is a strategic partner for Georgia and stressed the importance of restarting bilateral relations.
To reboot relations between the countries, Kobakhidze noted that the U.S. presidential elections and the end of the ongoing war in Ukraine are essential. He stated:
"In any case, regardless of the administration in power—be it Democrat or Republican—I believe the war in Ukraine will end next year. It will be easier to restart relations with any U.S. administration after the war. The U.S. is our strategic partner, and we are ready. The crucial point is to see the subsequent steps. If mutual steps are taken, nothing can hinder the resumption of relations."
