Upon returning to Turkey after his overseas visits on July 5 and 7, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements to journalists on the plane. Erdoğan suggested that an invitation could be extended to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, indicating that positive steps from Assad towards mending relations would be reciprocated. The Presidential Communications Directorate also conveyed on July 7 that an invitation to Assad could be made at any time, with Russia and Iraq supporting this approach. However, the Assad regime did not reciprocate Erdoğan's sentiments.

Assad Regime Remains Unchanged

According to external sources, the "Committee for Freezing the Funds of Individuals and Organizations" under the "Syrian Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Prevention Authority" updated its list of individuals and organizations accused of money laundering and supporting terrorism in Syria on July 11. The latest update increased the number of individuals and organizations allegedly involved in these activities. The updated list includes 567 individuals and 127 organizations. Despite Erdoğan's warm messages, his name remains on this list.

Erdoğan and Davutoğlu on the List

President Erdoğan is not the only leader named on the list. Alongside Erdoğan, the list includes former Prime Minister and current Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu and former Lebanese Prime Minister and Future Movement leader Saad Hariri. The list also includes individuals from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Pakistan, the United States, and Germany.

Turkish Parties and Associations Also Listed
