'Current situation threatens the dollar...' Trump’s bold Bitcoin promise
Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has announced his plan to make the United States "the planet's crypto capital and the world's Bitcoin superpower."
Speaking at a Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Trump outlined his policy on cryptocurrencies.
Trump emphasized that if the U.S. does not embrace cryptocurrency and Bitcoin technology, China will. He stated that allowing China to dominate is not an option and that he does not want China to succeed.
"I want the U.S. to be number one in technology, science, manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and space," Trump said.
Trump stressed his plan to make the U.S. "the planet's crypto capital and the world's Bitcoin superpower." He added, "If crypto is going to define the future, I want it to be mined, minted, and produced in the United States. Bitcoin is going to the moon, and I want America to lead this journey."
'I WILL FIRE GARY GENSLER ON DAY ONE'
Pointing out that approximately 175 million people are interested in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, Trump criticized the Biden administration for its regulations on cryptocurrencies.
He argued that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is "destroying Bitcoin," stating, "On my first day in office, I will fire Gary Gensler and appoint a new SEC chairman."
Trump also announced his intention to establish a Bitcoin and crypto presidential advisory council immediately upon taking office. This council’s mission would be to draft transparent regulatory guidelines for the benefit of the entire industry within 100 days.
Additionally, Trump asserted that there would never be a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) while he is president.
'NEVER SELL YOUR BITCOIN'
Arguing that Bitcoin is not a threat to the dollar, Trump said, "The current U.S. government's stance genuinely threatens the dollar. The danger to our financial future comes from Washington D.C., not crypto."
He predicted that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies would rise faster than ever before, advising, "Never sell your Bitcoin."
Trump stated that if elected, the U.S. government would retain all of its Bitcoin holdings, forming the core of a strategic national Bitcoin reserve.
"I will be the pro-innovation and pro-Bitcoin president that America needs and our citizens deserve," Trump concluded.
