China calls for restraint after killing of 3 US soldiers in Jordan
Beijing emphasizes dialogue and communication to prevent the escalation of tensions.
China urged for calm following the deaths of three US soldiers in Jordan, as reported by state media on Tuesday. Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin expressed China's desire for all involved parties to "remain calm and exercise restraint, and to strengthen dialogue and communication," emphasizing the need to avoid a cycle of retaliation.
The incident, involving an unmanned aerial drone attack in northeast Jordan, resulted in the deaths of three US service members and left many wounded. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack.
While the US attributes the attack to Iranian support for militias operating in Iraq and Syria, as stated by a Pentagon spokesperson, China's Wang stressed the importance of preventing further escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
