Prosecutor Sandra Gutierrez said Monday that "a formal accusation was filed against Mr. Evo Morales Aima and Mrs. Idelsa Pozo Saavedra (the mother of the alleged victim) for the crime of aggravated human trafficking" and that the prosecutor's office is waiting "for the judge to set the date and time for the hearing to take place.”

Gutierrez said an immigration alert was requested for Morales as well as for Saavedra.

Morales allegedly committed the crimes of human trafficking and rape with a minor with whom he allegedly had a son.

According to the complaint, the parents of the alleged victim "profited" from her by handing her over to Morales in exchange for "favors."

The victim reportedly belonged to a youth group created by Morales during his presidency called Generacion Evo.

An arrest warrant against Morales was issued on Oct. 16 but was not able to be executed because his address was unknown and due to roadblocks formed by his supporters that lasted 23 days.

One of the reports indicated that intelligence police proceeded to look for Morales at his home in the city of Chapare, but it was confirmed that he was not there. The police said they tried to search other addresses, and after "surveillance work," it was found that Morales "was not living in those places."

Morales has not left Chapare since October and has stated that he is always protected by at least "500 people."

A case was opened against him in Argentina for the "alleged commission of crimes of human trafficking and sexual abuse" during his stay in that country in 2019 when he was granted refugee status.
