Özgür Özel, the Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), made a visit to the former CHP leader, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, at his residence in Ankara in advance of the official transition. The meeting between these two prominent figures extended for approximately 30 minutes.
Özel traveled to Ankara to assume his role as the new head of the CHP, succeeding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Before the formal handover, Özel had expressed his intention to pay a visit to Kılıçdaroğlu at his home, remarking, "We will engage in discussions appropriate for a mentor and a mentee."
The meeting between Özel and Kılıçdaroğlu lasted for about half an hour. When questioned by reporters following their discussion, Özel characterized it as a familial visit, adding, "The rest remains a private matter between us. Thank you very much."
With Özgür Özel assuming the CHP presidency, a new era is set to begin for the party. His first challenge, as the 8th chairman of the party, will be the forthcoming local elections.
Özgür Özel is scheduled to convene his initial meeting with the Party Assembly (PM) on Saturday, November 11. He plans to construct the Central Executive Board (MYK), often referred to as the "A team," by taking into consideration the opinions of party members.
Reports suggest that Özgür Özel's new Central Executive Board will be all-encompassing, with appointments to various portfolios.
Özel is expected to lead the inaugural meeting of the new Central Executive Board on Monday, November 13, and will address the parliamentary group meeting as the chairman for the first time on Tuesday.
