Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's statement on Haniyeh
Following the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan issued a condolence message.
Hakan Fidan, while in Tehran for the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed his condolences for Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated.
In his social media post, Fidan wrote:
"I learned with deep sorrow that my dear brother Ismail Haniyeh was martyred in Iran. He dedicated his life to the Palestinian cause and to bringing peace and tranquility to Palestine. We have witnessed his recent efforts to secure a ceasefire. Even when his family members were killed by Israel, he never lost his belief in peace. Ismail Haniyeh had become a symbol of the glorious Palestinian resistance. His cherished memory will live on in the just cause of the Palestinian people. May Allah have mercy on him and grant him paradise."
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran, where he had attended the inauguration of Iran’s 9th President, Masoud Pezeshkian, yesterday.
Among those who greeted Haniyeh during the ceremony was Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
