Erdogan criticizes Israel: "These actions will make us miss Hitler"
During the 100th Year TÜBİTAK and TÜBA Science Awards Ceremony, Turkish President and AKP leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan criticized Israel's attacks on Gaza, drawing a controversial comparison with Hitler. "What difference do you have from Hitler? These actions will make us miss Hitler. Is there anything that Netanyahu has done that falls short of what Hitler did? No," Erdoğan stated. He also touched upon the issue of terrorism, vowing that the blood of the 12 soldiers who were martyred would not be in vain, as 54 terrorists were neutralized within 36 hours.
Erdoğan emphasized the importance of rewarding and acknowledging achievements in science, highlighting that the TÜBİTAK and TÜBA awards are efforts in this direction. He congratulated all scientists working tirelessly for the prosperous future of Turkey. He noted that this year, 77 scientists were deemed worthy of these awards, and the number of TÜBA Academy Award-winning scientists has reached 28.
Turkey's Scientific Advancements and Future Goals
Erdoğan underlined the role of scientific and technological advancements in Turkey's rise, stating that achieving a great and powerful Turkey is their goal. He mentioned the increase in the number of universities from 76 to 208 and the nationwide awakening in the field through events like Teknofest. He also spoke about the substantial funding provided for scientific projects and the importance of faith in achieving success.
Erdoğan's Condemnation of Netanyahu and Israel
A significant part of Erdoğan's speech was his strong condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza, where he made a stark comparison with Hitler, criticizing global institutions for their silence on Israel's actions. "All the institutions that pose as heralds of democracy, from the UN Security Council to press organizations, and from the EU to journalist associations, have failed. We realized that these institutions, which speak grandly and spend huge budgets, are empty when it comes to Israel and its atrocities," Erdoğan declared. "What difference do you have from Hitler? These actions will make us miss Hitler. Is there anything that Netanyahu has done that is less than what Hitler did? No."
