Defense Ministry issues a statement on 'Third World War'

Sources from the Ministry of National Defense reiterated, "Is there a risk of a total third world war, like the first and second world wars? Of course, it is a possibility. As the Ministry of National Defense, we continuously assess our defense and security needs and update all our plans based on these new evaluations. We can confidently say that we are among the most prepared countries."

The statement also addressed the issue uncovered by Cumhuriyet regarding a brigadier general involved in human trafficking:

"We previously announced that it was determined a brigadier general used his official vehicle for human trafficking and that the matter was referred to judicial authorities. Although it was not determined at the beginning of the investigation whether the brigadier general was involved, we immediately retired him due to his command responsibility. Based on information obtained during the covert preliminary investigation, our prosecutor in Akçakale ordered his detention."
