Turkey's volleyball teams shine in global arena on Republic's 100th Year
As Turkey celebrates the 100th anniversary of its Republic, the nation's volleyball teams and elite club teams have excelled in European and global tournaments.
The Turkish National Women's Volleyball Team, known as the “Sultans of the Net," achieved victories in the FIVB Nations League, and the CEV European Championship, and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Record-Breaking Achievements for Turkish Teams
Their 2023 FIVB Nations League win marked Turkey's first gold medal in the tournament, elevating them to the top of world rankings. Additionally, they secured their first CEV European Championship by overcoming Serbia in the final.
Dominance in Club Volleyball
In club competitions, Eczacibasi Dynavit and VakifBank faced off in the 2023 CEV Champions League Super Final, with VakifBank clinching the title. Turkish teams have now amassed eight CEV Women’s Champions League titles, demonstrating their dominance in the sport.
Men's Team Also Triumphs
The Turkish National Men's Volleyball Team won the 2023 CEV Men's Volleyball European Golden League, becoming the competition's most successful team. Their victory against Qatar in the FIVB Men’s Challenger Cup final in Doha ensured their participation in the 2024 Volleyball Nations League, adding to Turkey's volleyball accolades.
