Sengun's historic night leads Rockets to victory over Spurs with career-high 45 points
Houston Rockets' Turkish sensation Alperen Sengun orchestrated a 114-101 triumph over the San Antonio Spurs with a monumental 45 points, marking a career-best in the NBA on Wednesday.
Sengun, amassing 45 points, 16 rebounds, and five steals, alongside significant contributions from Jalen Green and Fred VanVleet, who added 23 and 21 points respectively, spearheaded the victory.
Jalen Green lauded his teammate's performance, stating, "He was a beast. That's the Alpi I know. He was amazing."
At just 21 years and 224 days old, Sengun etched his name alongside NBA greats Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid, James Harden, and John Drew, becoming the youngest player to achieve over 45 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 steals in a game.
Reflecting on his duel with the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama, Sengun revealed a heightened motivation, noting, "I didn’t play that well last game against him. Today, facing fewer double teams, they left me one-on-one with Wemby, so I just did what I do."
Currently, the Rockets are positioned 12th in the Western Conference with a 27-34 record, while the Spurs trail at 15th place, holding a 13-49 record.
