Panathinaikos wins EuroLeague match over Real Madrid
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens secured a remarkable 97-86 win against Real Madrid, marking their first victory in Madrid since 2013 and handing Real their first home loss of the 2023-24 EuroLeague season.
Mathias Lessort led the charge with 26 points, making him the game's top scorer at the WiZink Center. Contributions from Kendrick Nunn and Kostas Sloukas were pivotal in breaking an 11-year losing streak in Madrid.
Real Madrid, now with five losses in 27 games, saw Guerschon Yabusele score 18 points. Despite the loss, they remain EuroLeague leaders.
The win boosts Panathinaikos to third in the standings, improving their record to 17-10. Meanwhile, Anadolu Efes fell to Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade 100-90, placing them 15th in the league. The EuroLeague is gearing up for the play-in phase, leading to the playoffs, as teams vie for positioning in the final stretch of the season.
