Panathinaikos tops Fenerbahce for sixth EuroLeague home win
In a decisive Turkish Airlines EuroLeague match on Friday, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens claimed a 74-63 win over Fenerbahce Beko, marking their sixth straight home victory. The win bolstered Panathinaikos's record to 16-10, positioning them third in the standings, while Fenerbahce, now seventh, fell to 15-11.
Leading the charge for Panathinaikos was US guard Kendrick Nunn, who scored 23 points at the OAKA Altion Arena in Athens, playing a pivotal role in the Greens' success. Mathias Lessort also made significant contributions with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Fenerbahce's top performer was US center Johnathan Motley, who netted 16 points. Teammates Tarik Biberovic and Nick Calathes each added 12 points, with guard Scottie Wilbekin chipping in 10 points.
This setback leaves Fenerbahce trailing in the EuroLeague standings, as Panathinaikos looks to build on their momentum in an upcoming match against leaders Real Madrid on February 29. Fenerbahce aims for recovery in their next game, hosting Spanish team Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz on March 1.
Currently, Real Madrid leads the 2023-24 EuroLeague regular season with 22 victories in 26 games, followed by Barcelona with 18 wins. Barcelona secured a 93-77 victory against Germany's ALBA Berlin at the Palau Blaugrana on Friday.
