Offensive comments directed at Ferdi Kadıoğlu: 'Called a traitor'
Ahead of the EURO 2024 quarter-final match between the Netherlands and Turkey, national player Ferdi Kadıoğlu has faced offensive remarks. In an interview with the Dutch press, Ferdi's mother, Diane, revealed, "Ferdi is being called a 'traitor' for wearing the Turkey jersey. This hurts us."

Ferdi Kadıoğlu, whose father is Turkish and mother is Dutch, has played for the Netherlands in youth categories and now represents Turkey. He has made headlines in both countries ahead of the EURO 2024 quarter-final match.
Speaking to De Gelderlander, Diane Kadıoğlu shared their experience of receiving hateful comments.
"People Don't Know the Whole Story"
"Ferdi is being called a 'traitor' for wearing the Turkey jersey. This hurts us. These people don't know the whole story. The Turkish Football Federation showed belief in Ferdi," Diane said.
"Turkey Has Embraced Ferdi"
Ferdi's father, Feyzullah Kadıoğlu, also expressed his pride. "Recently, when the entire stadium chanted his name at Fenerbahçe, I got goosebumps. His goal in the friendly match against Germany made me very proud. Turkey has embraced Ferdi. We always believed in him. Ferdi is a mentally strong child," he stated.
