Details have emerged from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office investigation into the Comanchero crime syndicate.
The investigation, which involves charges of "forming a criminal organization," "international drug trafficking," and "money laundering," has led to the seizure of assets worth 4.5 billion Turkish lira from 55 suspects. The gang, led by Hakan Reis and Duax Ngakuru, has seen 18 members arrested, while 22 were released under judicial control.
SNEIJDER CONNECTION
According to a report by Sabah, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) prepared a detailed report indicating that Comanchero laundered drug trafficking money through companies established in Turkey. The report found that former Galatasaray star Wesley Sneijder transferred $1,181,428 to Borhan Group Investment Inc. and its subsidiary, Econ Real Estate.
'PURCHASED SHARES'
Yunus Emre Borhan, named in the investigation, stated in his testimony that Hakan Arif Tavukçu, a childhood friend, sold his shares to Sneijder. Borhan explained, "Sneijder bought a 15% stake in Econ for $1.8 million. He paid me $1,181,428."
Borhan also revealed that he met Çetin Gören, who was previously on an international wanted list for the 'Bataklık' investigation, through Wesley Sneijder. Borhan admitted to borrowing 100,000 lira from Gören, which he repaid when due.
