Icardi secures Galatasaray's 3-2 victory over Sparta Prague
Mauro Icardi's last-minute goal clinched a 3-2 win for Galatasaray against Sparta Prague in Thursday's UEFA Europa League playoff first leg.
Galatasaray opened the scoring with Kerem Demirbay's close-range goal in the 19th minute, but Sparta Prague equalized early in the second half through Angelo Preciado at RAMS Park.
The Istanbul team regained the lead after Ladislav Krejci's own goal in the 61st minute. However, Galatasaray was reduced to 10 men just a minute later when Victor Nelsson was sent off for a foul on Serbian winger Veljko Birmancevic.
Preciado assisted Jan Kuchta in scoring a header, tying the game at 2-2 in the 65th minute.
Sparta Prague also found themselves with 10 men after Matej Rynes received a red card for fouling Baris Alper Yilmaz in the 80th minute.
Icardi's long-range shot in stoppage time sealed the win for Galatasaray with a 3-2 score.
In another first-leg match, Feyenoord and Roma drew 1-1 at Feyenoord Stadium. Igor Paixao opened the scoring for Feyenoord in the 45th minute, with Romelu Lukaku equalizing in the 67th minute.
