Germany secures top spot at the last minute
Germany advanced to the Round of 16 as group leaders after a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in their third and final Group A match of EURO 2024.
In the Group A showdown, Murat Yakın's Switzerland faced Julian Nagelsmann's Germany at Frankfurt Arena. Switzerland took the lead with Dan Ndoye's goal in the 28th minute.
Germany secured the top spot in the group with Niclas Füllkrug's equalizer in the 90+2nd minute.
Manuel Neuer Makes History
Germany's Manuel Neuer set a new record by making his 18th European Championship appearance, surpassing Gianluigi Buffon as the goalkeeper with the most appearances in the tournament's history.
However, Germany's Jonathan Tah received a yellow card and will miss the next round.
Switzerland, finishing second in Group A, will face the runner-up of Group B in the Round of 16. Potential opponents include Italy, Albania, and Croatia.
Germany, topping the group with 7 points, will await the best third-placed team to determine their next opponent.
