A major achievement in her first olympics: Hatice Akbaş wins silver in boxing
Hatice Akbaş has won a silver medal in the 54 kg boxing category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In the final match held at Roland-Garros, Akbaş faced China's Yuan Chang. She lost the first round 4-1, the second round 5-0, and the third round 5-0, resulting in a total score of 5-0 in favor of her opponent.
Hatice's silver medal is Turkey's second silver at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In her first match at the Games, Hatice Akbaş defeated Charley Davison from Great Britain with a 3-2 score. In the round of 16, she secured a 5-0 victory against Australia's Tiana Echegaray.
The national athlete guaranteed a medal by defeating Mongolia's Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg 5-0 in the quarterfinals and advanced to the final after winning 3-2 against South Korea's Aeji Im in the semifinals.
