Turkey hits record oil production in region
Turkey's oil production in the eastern Gabar region has hit a record of 30,000 barrels per day, according to the state-owned Turkish Petroleum (TPAO).
The company announced this milestone on Monday on the social media platform X, attributing the increased volume to 23 wells drilled in the southeastern Sirnak province's Gabar Mountain region.
"Record oil production at Gabar: 30,000 barrels per day," TPAO stated, noting the achievement in recently discovered fields.
Looking ahead, TPAO has set its production targets at 35,000 barrels per day for 2023 and 100,000 barrels per day for 2024.
Since 2020, Turkey has intensified its oil and gas exploration efforts, reaching new heights with the discovery of reserves in the Gabar region. This progress is a significant step toward the country's goal of complete energy independence.
