The list of the world's happiest cities has been published, featuring Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya from Turkey.
The 2024 Happy Cities Index, prepared annually by the UK-based Institute for Quality of Life, placed Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city, at the top.
Aarhus at the Top
Aarhus was described by a travel writer for The Sun as having "charming cobblestone streets, winding waterways, and friendly independent shops," and the city was characterized as both relaxed and vibrant.
The index, created by the Institute for Quality of Life, rates cities based on local governments' strategic policy efforts in areas such as environment, social mobility, and the local economy.
Gold Category
Around 40 cities worldwide were awarded Gold status, subjecting them to more comprehensive evaluation. Aarhus surpassed Copenhagen to claim the top spot.
Zurich, Berlin, Gothenburg, and Amsterdam rounded out the top five, with Helsinki, Bristol, Geneva, and Munich also securing places in the top 10.
