UN warns of Khan Younis displacement: 182,000 people forced to flee
Approximately 182,000 Palestinians have been displaced due to ongoing Israeli attacks on Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
cumhuriyet.com.trIn a statement, OCHA noted that the latest intense assaults on Khan Younis have sparked a new wave of internal displacement. Between July 22 and 25, around 182,000 people fled from the central and eastern parts of Khan Younis.
Andrea de Domenico, OCHA’s Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, stated on July 3 that "nine out of ten people in Gaza have been displaced at least once."
The Israeli military had previously declared some areas in eastern Khan Younis as "safe zones" but announced operations would be conducted there, urging residents to evacuate. Following the evacuation call, Palestinians began leaving the area.
As of July 24, the Gaza government's media office reported that Israeli attacks on Khan Younis had resulted in 129 deaths and 416 injuries.
