Turkey urges global response, condemning deadly Israeli attack on Gaza's Al-Fakhoura school

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned the Israeli strike on the Al-Fakhoura school in the Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza Strip, run by the United Nations. The attack, which occurred on November 18, claimed the lives of numerous Palestinian children.

In a statement released early Sunday, the ministry described the attack as further 'evidence' of Israel's 'deliberate and ruthless targeting of civilians, particularly children, in Gaza.' The ministry highlighted the increasing death toll of women and children in Gaza over the past five weeks due to Israeli actions, calling it 'a blot on humanity.'

The statement urged the international community to stop overlooking Israel's 'systematic undermining of the law and humanitarian values through its heinous crimes.' It emphasized the need for holding those responsible for these 'massacres' accountable in court for the 'indescribable suffering' inflicted.

The ministry stressed the urgency of an 'immediate, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.' It called on 'all conscientious members of the global community to take necessary actions toward this end.'

The bombardment of the UN-operated learning center on Saturday resulted in numerous casualties. Following a Hamas attack on October 7, Israel initiated airstrikes and a subsequent ground operation. The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 12,000 deaths, predominantly women and children, and the destruction of thousands of civilian structures. A comprehensive blockade has exacerbated shortages of essentials like food, fuel, and medicine."
