Xavi: Barcelona unable to afford stars like Mbappe, Haaland
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has acknowledged the club's inability to spend heavily on star players like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe due to financial constraints.
cumhuriyet.com.trDespite previously spending over 100 million euros each on Philippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann, and Ousmane Dembele between 2017 and 2019, Barcelona's current economic situation restricts such high-profile signings.
Xavi expressed hope for new acquisitions in the January transfer window but ruled out pursuing elite players like Manchester City's Haaland or France's Mbappe. "We are not in a privileged economic position to make such signings," Xavi said, emphasizing the need to focus on the existing squad.
"We have to win titles and maintain high-performance levels," Xavi added, ahead of Barcelona's league match at Las Palmas. Barcelona currently stands fourth in the league, trailing 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid, who have played one more game than Xavi's team.
