Yamal, who took the field a day after his 17th birthday, became the youngest player ever to feature in a European Championship final. At 17 years old, he broke Renato Sanches' record, who played for Portugal at 18 years and 328 days in the EURO 2016 final against France.

The previous record was held by Switzerland's Johan Vonlanthen, who scored at 18 years and 141 days in EURO 2004 against France.
