Austria Secures 3 Points with 3 Goals: Poland's Hopes Rest on Miracles

Austria defeated Poland 3-1 in their second match of Group D at the EURO 2024.

In the Group D encounter, Poland faced Austria in a match officiated by Turkish referee Halil Umut Meler. The game, played at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, ended with Austria winning 3-1.

Austria's goals came from Gernot Trauner in the 9th minute, Christoph Baumgartner in the 66th minute, and Marko Arnautovic from a penalty in the 78th minute. Poland's sole goal was scored by Krzysztof Piatek in the 30th minute.

SZYMANSKI DID NOT PLAY

In the Polish team, Adam Buksa and Krzysztof Piatek, who both play in the Süper Lig, played for 60 minutes. Sebastian Szymanski did not get any playing time.

With this result, Austria earned their first 3 points, keeping their hopes of advancing from the group alive. Poland, however, remains without points after two matches, leaving their chances of advancing dependent on a miracle.

In the final group match, Poland will face France, while Austria will go up against the Netherlands.
