The incident occurred at Helios Mariahilf Clinic in Hamburg, where the young girl, posing as a hospital staff member, lured the mother out of her room with a false message and then kidnapped the baby. The baby was returned to the hospital's emergency department four hours later. Police stated the girl was experiencing psychological problems during the abduction. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.

The baby's grandfather, Yılmaz Kocaman, a former president of Hamburg Zonguldak Sports Club, told İHA that his granddaughter Azra was hospitalized due to a fever. He recounted how the kidnapper deceived his daughter-in-law and then stole the baby. The family and friends gathered at the hospital to search for the baby, criticizing the police for inadequate response and attempts to disperse the crowd. Kocaman expressed relief when his granddaughter was returned, revealing the kidnapper had taken the baby to her sister's house, claiming it was her own child. He shared the family's distress, noting the baby was already sick and connected to machines.

After the incident, the baby was readmitted for treatment, and the mother, traumatized by the event, fell ill. Kocaman criticized the police's handling of the situation and highlighted security lapses in Germany. He stated the family's intention to pursue legal action.
